Mike Bell, head of the Laramie County Democrats, announced a last Tuesday's meeting that the party will hold a chili dinner in honor of the late Jim Byrd on Saturday, Oct. 13, 6-9 p.m., at the VFW Hall on Nationway. For a $10 admission, you will get all the chili you can eat, entertainment, and some invigorating schmoozing. Performances will be conducted by (among others) the local folkloric dance troupe, Las Flores de Colores, who are featured on the Wyoming Arts Council roster. Mary Lou Marcum, entertainment chair, would like to add others to the playbill. If interested, respond in the "comments" section and I'll put you in touch with her.
Jim Byrd was active in Democratic politics and was married to former Wyoming State Senator Liz Byrd for many years. Liz will be there Oct. 13, as will John Millin, state party chair and former leader of LCD.
Come out to this fund-raiser and help to support Democratic candidates on the local and state level.
P.S.: Mr. Bell wants everyone to know that the dinner is scheduled AFTER the University of Wyoming homecoming game. So, you can be at the festivities in Laramie in the afternoon and back in Cheyenne for dinner.
