U.S. health care is "sicko"
As the Laramie County Democratic Party Grassroots Coalition discusses health care on May 24 (see posting below), we should keep in mind Michael Moore's new movie, "Sicko." It debuted last night at the Cannes Film Festival. This week's Time magazine has a positive review by Richard Corliss. He includes some caveats that have more to do with Moore's personality than with the film. But the filmmaker from Flint, Michigan, brings his larger-than-life persona to a topic that needs attention. Says Corliss: "As both harangue and movie tragicomedy, Sicko is socko." The movie opens June 29 in the U.S. That means that theaters in Cheyenne, Wyoming, will get it some time in August -- if at all. We may have to lobby the theater chains to get a screening. That's what happened with "Brokeback Mountain."
