Update on UW Crushes and Meg Lanker-Simons story

There have been new developments in the story I blogged about on Saturday. What had seemingly been clear has become complicated. This was in today's Laramie Boomerang:
The University of Wyoming Police Department issued a citation Monday afternoon in Albany County Circuit Court for Meg Lanker-Simons, a woman allegedly threatened last week in a social media post.

Authorities allege the post was a hoax.

Lanker-Simons was cited for interference, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and $1,000 fine.

“Subject admitted to making a controversial post on UW Crushes webpage and then lied about not doing it,” according to the citation.

Lanker-Simons is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. May 13 in Circuit Court.
Read the rest here.

Meg has publicly denied making this controversial post. This was in today's Casper Star-Tribune:
The UW senior told the Star-Tribune on Tuesday that the police accusations were untrue. Lanker-Simons said she retained legal counsel and filed an entry-of-appearance plea of not guilty. The citation set a court date for May 13. Charles Pelkey, Lanker-Simons’ attorney, declined to comment.
So what's going on here? Stay tuned for more...

I'm a non-liberal but you get kudos for posting this update, even though the story seems to be turning into yet another hoax perpetuated by liberals.

As for why non-liberals post anonymously...it's because liberals are known for being vindictive. Many, many folks have had their careers and businesses ruined by liberals who didn't like something they wrote or said.

I don't know what state you live in, Anonymous, but it can't be Wyoming. First of all, I'd love to hear the facts about a conservative losing a job or business for being outspoken. In this state, liberals live in fear of being outspoken. Their jobs and businesses have been threatened. It is the conservative majority that can be vindictive. There also is a great libertarian streak that helps keep free speech alive. That's why a conservative judge overruled the University of Wyoming's ban on letting former '60s radical Bill Ayers speak on campus. That was a lawsuit brought against UW by student Meg Lanker-Simons. It takes some guts to sue your own university over a free speech issue.

Please...A liberal suing to let a terrorist speak on a university? That's courage? Pfft. Planting fake comments to implicate not even a person but an idea in a heinous crime, is that courage? That is pure cowardice. Intellectual and otherwise.
As to the business thing. Gay rights activists sue because a photographer won't take their pictures. What right does anyone have do demand someone, anyone, do business with them? They are doing it all over the nation sir and you should open your eyes and take notice.

Those doggone gays are demanding to get their pictures taken? The nerve. My eyes are open now, Anonymous, and I'll be on the lookout for obviously gay men and flagrant lesbians trying to sneak into photo studios. Thanks for the tip.

So, what do you think is going on here Michael? Are you thinking Meg was forced into confessing? Think the cops withheld Megs lunch of 4 chilli hotdogs potato chips and 24 ounce Mt. Dew and half-dozen custard donuts?
Im with you. I think these methods of "enhanced interrogation" only makes us as bad as infidel beheading Islamic jihadi's and it lowers our esteem with entitlement bankrupt European nations. Thats not helpful.
(Id sign my name but I dont have the accounts this blog demands for identification.

To Anonymous:

Since when are Joseph McCarthy, J. Edgar Hoover, and Richard M. Nixon considered "liberal"? George W. Bush held American citizens in shadowy prisons without charge or trial, at least until it was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court. Whether they honored the Court's decision or just hid themselves better is open to debate. Is he a "liberal"?

Vindictiveness is not specific either to "liberals" or to "conservatives." It is specific to people who want to control others.
