Who says this ain't a crusade?

Mil-Mall advertises in all of the military publications -- Army Times, Air Force Times, etc. The bookstore's pretty good, and features some of the current military-oriented books on Iraq and Afghanistan. Couldn't see anything critical of the Bush Administration on the site, though. Nothing by Michael Moore, for instance. But you have to know your market.

I really liked the coins portraying U.S. soldiers as crusaders of righteousness. That's exactly the message we want to send to the Arab and Persian worlds. The crusaders are coming! The crusaders are coming!

If you're interested, you can read my fictional take on future crusades by the U.S. on my web site. Click on "short fiction" on the sidebar and go to "REV."

Here's the Mil-Mall advertising blurb for its crusader coins:

The warriors of America's armed forces fight in the name of justice and freedom around the world, risking their lives to defend these principles whenever and wherever they come under attack. These fearless men and women answer duty's call day after day, armed with resolute confidence in their mission and the firm belief that America's cause in the world is right. Wielding the sword of honor and wearing the breastplate of righteousness, America's troops tackle every challenge with steadfast conviction and the desire to achieve absolute victory over tyranny. This coin pay tribute to the brave men and women of America's military, who risk their lives every day to keep liberty's lamp burning brightly throughout the world. The obverse depicts traditional pieces of armor, including the breastplate, shield, sword, and helmet. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the courage and commitment of all those who fight for justice as members of America's military.
