Blogging in the West a lonely pastime

Lefty Blogs is on my blogroll (on sidebar). I check out this site at least once daily. It features a 24-hour digest of those progressives in the Lefty Blogs fold. It also features a state-by-state digest of rexcent blogs. The Wyoming link reveals posts mainly from Daily Kos and the New West Jackson Hole blog. I've applied to get hummingbirdminds enrolled in Lefty Blogs, but it seems to be tough to get into the club. I have been supplying diaries to Daily Kos about the state's vacant U.S. Senate seat. Daily Kos, of course, is the premier blog for progressive politics. Posts are thoughtful, sometimes so thoughtful they can bring on a case of MEGO. The blog must have thousands of diarists. So, you also get some quirky posts and some gut-wrenching personal accounts.

Progressives in Wyoming tend to feel a bit left out of the national conversation. Nobody comes to visit! Presidential candidates drop into Denver and Salt Lake City on a regular basis, but they just fly over The Equality State. Not enough people. Not enough votes. Democrats are outnumbered by prairie dogs.

But you can insert yourself into the blogosphere in creative ways. We don't have a progressive blog network like Montana (see more at leftinthewest), a force that influenced the 2006 elections in that state, but we are part of the larger picture.
