LarCoDems Elect New Officers

The Laramie County Democrats elected new officers at its Feb. 27 meeting in Cheyenne. Here's the new crew:
Chair: Mike Bell
Co-chair: Beth Lance
Secretary: Nicole Nototny
Treasurer: Bobby Marcum
State Committeeman: Terry Barbre
State Committeewoman: Betty Jo Beardsley

Mike moves up from co-chair, replacing John Millin. Bobby Marcum continues as treasurer since he's the only member who knows a spreadsheet from a hole in the ground. Betty Jo also continues in her position. As she noted later in the meeting, she's held almost every office in LarCoDems and every office in the Democratic Women's Club (now the Grassroots Coalition). I didn't run again as secretary because two years is long enough. Mr. Bell immediately gave me the assignment of drafting new by-laws for LarCodems. Teacher Terry Barbre heard about his new assignment, and then had to duck out of the meeting for rehearsals of "Man of La Mancha."

Good news is that we have new blood in the organization and they're willing to serve as officers. We need to keep encouraging younger people to take their turn at running things. We need to help when we can, and get out of the way when we must.

On to 2008!
